With the passing of the Equinox, the darkness exceeds the light for the next six months.
I lost a freind at this time of year a number of years back, and the changing light always makes me think of him with out being consciously aware of it. Other things this week reminded me of this great song from 1988 by Mike and the Mechanics:
"In the Living Years"

  1. Interesting stuff, Peter. Still not sure about publishing dollars spent. It makes me shudder every time I see your numbers. July was a killer painting month for you. Great job!

Averaging one game per month is a reasonable goal. A goal I often have difficulty meeting. Not 2017! I have been gaming much more than usual.

What are your plans for Q4?

    1. 2017 is on track to be the far the most that I have spent on my hobby in many years, probably ever. I do NOT expect to post numbers like that again for a long time. It will probably be on par with my best years for painting as well/

Q4 will be the "Spanish Quarter" for painting; I have three more Line infantry units already done, 2 units of Spanish Cazadores on the painting table to be followed by 2 of Militia, another 6 Line, and 2 Grenadiers.

I already plunked down more cash (just after the end of Q3!) for the 4 added units of Spanish line from "Three Armies" (their excellent prices go up and free shipping over 50# ends October 14) and a bevy of Adolfo Ramos flags.

Gaming wise we have an ECW game with the near final version of the soon to be released TtS! inspired rules for the ECW by Simon Miller, "For King and Parliament", scheduled for Saturday. I hope we can get a "LANNES" campaign game in in November, and in December I will be running some TtS! games for Jared's middle school gaming club in Tarrytown, NY.

    1. Yes, although a bit to FIFO, as opposed to making progress on the lead backlog!

  5. Well, September at least was very frugal.

    1. Yeah, but that's only because I waited until October 1 to order from Three Armies and Adolfo Ramos! :-)

    2. End of quarter window dressing to make third quarter look better?

    3. On the one hand, I consciously avoided spending money on the hobby in September because I knew the damage from Historicon was major. I probably would have waited until December to order more troops, as I have plenty of Spanish to paint on hand already. However, the Three Armies prices are due to go up 10/14, and their free shipping deal runs out then as well. I was afraid that if I didn't order them last weekend, I'd forget this weekend, and then the opportunity would be lost. How's that for self justification? :-)

    4. That is more than sufficient justification. I usually settle with, “hey, these are cool!”

    5. LOL, there is that. They arrived yesterday from the UK, less than 7 days after I ordered them. Talk about service!

  6. "Work more, spend more, paint more, game more! :-)"

I'd like to emphasise the last two points for myself for a bit! Boxes of figures lying around, and need to play more games :)

    Thanks Peter!

    1. Hi Mark: Well, I can't imagine how you could "PAINT MORE" than you are now, so game more sounds good!
