This Hessian Fusilier regiment traces its origins back to 1702.
It had "sulfur yellow" facings and cloth backing on their miters.
It fought at White Plains, Rhode Island, and Charleston.
These are Perry figures once again.
The flag is from Flags of War.
It became a Musketeer regiment in 1782.
Lovely looking unit, really nicely done. It is such a lovely uniform.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Gary. I am really enjoying the Hessians. Perhaps too much - when I.am done I'll have 1 Jager, 4 Musketeer, 4 Fusilier, and 3 Grenadier units, plus the gun and command. I fairly large force, plus a few planned Brunswick in similar uniforms. Germans did make up roughly 30% of the entire force employed by the British during the AWI!

DeleteI deliberately went with small units to allow a lot of different uniforms and flags, reduce costs and painting time, as well as occupying less storage space (which I am running out of, LOL)! Also the units WERE small in this conflict, especially on the American side!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe. The Perry's did a fine job sculpting this range. The Brigade Games figures are very nice for this era as well. I might have used Old Glory, but although their range is large, they don't do any French or Hessians, and some of their 30 figure packs would be far more than i needed for some unit types.

DeleteThat is a lot of Hessians Peter. All you will ever need. Lovely work on these and the yellow against the blue is very eye-catching.
ReplyDeleteYeah. probably got carried away with them due to the uniforms and flags. There were few battles that didn't involve some "Hessians", but not at the same time. However, the 2027 Campaign in a Day event will be AWI, in Summer/Fall of 1777, the time of the Saratoga Campaign, so there will be plenty of German troops with both Burgoyne and Howe.
