My friend, Bob Jones, just did a blog post ...Mike,

My friend, Bob Jones, just did a blog post (Repique rules) exhorting us to sell off books we haven't read in 3 years, or armies we haven't played with in that time. ob always enjoys being controversial, LOL, but this time he's dead WRONG! :-) I have many, many books, and I never know when I am going to want to look something up in one of them. Ditto for armies; I might not use one for years, and then it's on the table several times. I *never* sell anything that I have painted. OTOH, I am not very prone to "Oooh, Shiney!", and do take my projects to completion (or at least the point where I have more than enough to play a good game, LOL)Gonsalvohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16531623280789478092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9170582445870210697.post-28086860935698835342013-06-05T19:29:27.696-04:002013-06-05T19:29:27.696-04:00I still have my copy (maybe two) that I still pull...I still have my copy (maybe two) that I still pull off the shelf to re-read.Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9170582445870210697.post-46122621223914467852013-06-04T16:37:35.863-04:002013-06-04T16:37:35.863-04:00I had a copy as well; sold them on Ebay a few year...I had a copy as well; sold them on Ebay a few years ago. For a variety of reasons,. I never put them on the table, but I think they would have played well. They did inspire some changes to my own house rules of the time, which will eventually follow.

OK, if your British are in 18 figure units, Joe, that pretty much settles how I'll do mine!Gonsalvohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16531623280789478092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9170582445870210697.post-78654477680511296252013-06-02T08:44:50.096-04:002013-06-02T08:44:50.096-04:00VLE is definitely an "oldy but goody." ...VLE is definitely an "oldy but goody." I agree with your affinity towards Design Notes. Often that section is the most interesting part of the entire rules and the one I turn to first. If I can buy into the designer's gaming philosophy then I will likely enjoy the rules as written.

Zuparko's Design Notes are very comprehensive and one of the best examples I have surfaced.
Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9170582445870210697.post-49124971683969707762013-06-02T08:39:47.830-04:002013-06-02T08:39:47.830-04:00Another set of rules that nobody played. They were very interesting to read, and along with his handbook on the maneuver of the higher level (division and corps) it did help a deeper understanding of what into the maneuver process on a battlefield of the time.

My British troops are 18 to the unit. The color of the short plume is the only difference in the grenadier versus the light company uniform. But then the 18 is the new 12 for any of the Quatre Bras units. ;-)pancernihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09108442113999809459noreply@blogger.com
