32e Ligne, Early Empire in bicorne

The first of a new "Division" of  French Line infantry, the 32e charges enthusiastically off the painting table.

They are dressed in the early Empire uniform,, with bicornes and long tailed coats.

These are Old Glory (1st edition)  figures, in "Campaign Dress".

They are a mix of the Advancing set and the "enthusiastic" sets.
Note the bottles of wine !

The former pictures were taken on a cloudy day, the next ones on a sunny day with the sun nearly overhead. Still the shadows are obvious.

The 32e traces its origin back to the Bassigny Regiment, first raised in 1775.

It was part of the Grande Armee from 1805 - 1807, and fought at Friedland.

The 32e fought in Spain from 1808 -1814.

During the 1815 Campaign  it served as a part of the Army of the Rhine.

  2. These guys are certainly fierce competitors when it comes to killing hats. Great painting as usual and wonderful looking regimental flag.

  3. Nice work on these Peter. I have to admit that nowadays I feel a lot less enthusiastic after a bottle of wine, and am normally looking for a nap somewhere.
