A second unit of Medium Cavalry joins the mounted forces of Rome!
The gold SPQR on yellow (Delta CC "Straw", of course!) required a little black lining with the ink pen.
Once again, the Command figures are Crusader and the others are Old Glory.
Definitely keeping up the "yellow" vibe!
The Punic view once again!
Black horses for these fellows, once again a nice contrast to the yellow, I think.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence. Yes, I definitely have "enough" Roman Republican cavalry now, In fact, I might need a bit more infantry to balance them (!). Might be an excuse to pick up a few Aventine figures, although I wonder if they would dwarf the OG and Minifigs in the rest of the force?

DeleteGood looking horsemen. Nice addition. The class title always bothered me, as if the units were half done or somehow lacking; kinda' like the category of dragoons in a later period denotes situations not true in certain forces.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe. All classifications are inherently generalizations we use to for conceptualization. The Romans certainly made no such distinction between Medium and Heavy, at least in this era. In TTS! terms the only real difference would be the "HC" being rated as "Veteran", yielding a small improvement in their save and an extra Javelin to chuck, should they have the chance to do so!
DeletePeter, this is a very useful contrast between Crusader and Old Glory cavalry. Since these Old Glory cav look larger than Crusader, I may have to try Old Glory to augment my Punic Wars cavalry comprised mainly of the HUGE Renegade cav. Ceramcoat Straw is a staple in my painting Arsenal.
