Hittite Archers #1

Like the Peleset, with the additions from Bill McHugh's collection, I felt the Hittites could use a few more archers.

These are Newline Designs figures, courtesy of their January sale (which about makes up for the outrageous postage costs from the UK!).

I chose this "Green Tea" and red scheme to complement some of Bill's Spearmen and Axemen.

Once again, I went with my own standard "Near East" basing for these new troops.

"Hey, don't blow that darned thang in my ear!"

  1. Very nice additions to your Hittites, Peter. I do like the subtle green color.

  3. Since these are the first unit of your Newline Design Biblicals, what do you think of them? I like ‘em.

    1. I like them, too. They are a bit less stocky than Foundry or Old Glory, but that's fine, and they mix in well with both lines.

  5. A good looking unit, and the tufts of grass certainly give the bases a lift.

    1. Thank you, Peter. The sand mixed with small "railroad talus" highlighted by the tufts is easy and works well, I think. I ordered a slew of tufts about 2years ago in preparation for tackling Bill's collection!

    1. Thank you, Carlo! I should have substantial Egyptian, Hittite, Sea Peoples, and Assyrian armies at the other end, with some supporting contingents from Canaanite states and Libyans.

    1. Thanks, Gary. Having slacked off on their Gym membership, they weren't so eager to show as much flesh! :-)

  8. Great looking Hittite archers, I rather like Newline, they don't look terribly impressive in bare metal but,as here, they paint up very nicely!

    1. Thanks, Iain. They are less "chunky" than several other manufacturers, but probably more realistic in that way!

  9. Nice work, and that Green Tea shade is very nice indeed. It has that Biblical look to it.

    1. Thanks, Lawrence. Aside from browns and blacks from natural wool, I would think that most biblical clothes would be in rather subdued shades.

  10. Excellent green on these! Is that just done by mixing in a lot of white, or did you have a green that colour?
