Friday, I once again ran my game in the morning, so i was free to roam the convention in the afternoon and evening...
Setting up the phenomenal battle of la Bicocca - great Italian Wars, 1522..
Rules were Pike and Shotte, I believe.
54 mm ? plastic American Civil War
All the King's Men ? rules
Along the Mekong River in Vietnam, I think.
Carnage and Glory, computer moderated rules.
C&G also, I think ?
More C&G - ECW Battle of Newbury, I think.
How the West was Fun...
Big flags, tiny troops!
Triumph rules
Greg and the Little Wars guys - Viking raid on Saxons
7YW - Mollwitz, with modified General d'Armee.
The sensational Rorke's Drift game.
Sharpe Practice rules.
I spent some time at the Flea Market sessions (Wally's Basement), nothing notable acquired, really. Bought some trees from Battlefield Terrain Concepts, a bit of paint, and a 28 mm Obelisk at the dealer's area. Loot Tally such as it was, in a later post. Food was limited to the food court in the evening and AM on Thursday; I wound up going out to shop[ at at Wegman's a few miles away and bought all my food for the week there. I really didn't want to be eating with my mask off around others anyway, so I just ate in my room. Not as personable as I would have liked like, but safer!
Good photo report.
ReplyDeleteNice to see my old chum Ed.
Jim
Some more great games there Peter, most of which I haven't seen in other people's reports. That galleys game is particularly eye=catching.
ReplyDeleteThere will be quite ba few more Galleys in posts yet to come!
DeleteSome great looking games there.
ReplyDeleteAlthough spread out due to the nature of the venue, there were lost of great looking games!
DeleteSome nice looking games
ReplyDeleteIndeed there were!
DeleteSome great looking games, so thanks for for sharing:). A wise move to eat in your room me-thinks.
ReplyDeleteI've seen way too much breakthrough COVID, although fortunately mostly mild to moderate at worst, and my booster isn't for another 10 days, so, yeah, antisocial solitary dining for me this time out!
DeleteGood to see a convention alive and kicking again, even if a little less busy, and from a distance.
ReplyDeleteIt was never crowded, but it was fairly busy. The spread out nature of the venue made it hard to asses, but fr4om what I heard from members of the BoD, it seems likely attendance was above usual for Fall In, but of course below that for a normal July Historicon.
DeleteThe Rorkes Drift and Biocca tables are standouts
ReplyDeleteNo arguments there!
DeleteAlmost as good as being there! Thanks much!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it!
DeleteLooks like you had fun. Lobster in the room then? Down with a good white?
ReplyDeleteMore like grinders, fruit, cheese, and some Rose, LOL!
DeleteThanks for the photos all impressive. It’s certainly interesting to see how base cloths are now the norm and how much they have delevoped some very effective results
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been a rapid transition over about 5 years. I still use my own home made ones, but not plain felt.
DeleteWow, more marvellous games!
ReplyDeleteThe triremes stole it for me.
Regards, James
Lots to like; those ships are all laser cut wood (painted); commercially available. Looks like each player had a squadron of three ships.
DeleteI haven't shown you Dave Waxtels hand built 28 mm Punic Wars Galleys yet... or my own 15 mm Renaissance Galleys! More still to come.
