November Historicon, 2021 - Random Thursday pictures

Well, I had a balst at Hiostoericon last week. As so many have commented, is was so much fun to be back gaming together, even with the masks (which I hardly noticed myself, having worn one so much of the past 18 months!

Quret a number of computer moderated (Carnage and Glory) games. Not my thing at all, but so what?

Nice looking table, awaiting troops.

Part of a huge Waterloo game. Impressive, but I thought the odd ground color , exceptionally high troop density, and the many labels detracted somewhat from the look. Still, as a fellow gaming megalomaniac, I appreciate the huge efforty it takes to do something like this!

A shot of a different part of the same table.

and yet more!

I think this was a Maximillian era game in mexico.

Attacking a Roman? Fort!

Tanks in the Desert.

More Waterloo

A ginormous, multifaction Samurai game.

Same from the other end!

The natives are restless.

More of the Fort/"Castle".

Back in Mexico.

Tanks in Europe.

Stalingrad by the Little Wars guys.

Northern Africa...

Romans on the move.

A few of the tables for the Flames of War Tournament; not my thing at all, but always nicely presented!

Likewise.

More FoW.

Hobby University.

Emdeeffburg!

The theme was aircraft of war, after all!

Fabntasy Triumph tutorials.

Triumph for Ancients.

The Battle of 5 Armies

Very nicely done!

Impressive table!

  1. Looks like a good mix of periods, next post shows some of your games, I presume?

  2. Great round-up Peter and some photos of games I hadn't seen on others people's retrospectives. That Waterloo game does look a little dense and I wouldn't know where to start with it but, as you said, one can certainly appreciate the effort that went into that and all the games.

    1. Lots of variety, with quite a few involving aircraft/helicopters in keeping with the deferred theme of HCon 2020!

    1. It was a very effective backdrop! Would be even impressive with more figures, but then the backdrop would likely have to be far bigger.

  7. I don’t think those photos are from a Mexican game. Judging by the Ethiopia and Italian flags, as well as the terrain, I’d say it was the battle of Adowa 1896.

    1. Yes, you are correct. I didn't see any signage at the game to help out!

  8. Great looking games - good to see folks enjoying the con. One of our local gamers was there with his son and posted pics from the first night.

  10. There was plenty to see and do, just very spread out. This was Thursday; the least busy of the three main days!

  11. Some eye catching games. Not really my idea of a wargame as such but the Battle of 5 Armies table was very nicely done. Interesting that the computer assisted games were prevalent maybe a knock on from 'Zoom' type gaming and no dice to touch/share ?

    1. Carnage and Glory has been around LONG before COVID and zoom games. many people enjoy the system. Not something that appeals to me, though.

  12. What a magnificent range of games, which all looked so good.
Waterloo is the standout for me (with my biased eyes).
