This Continental regiment has red facings, dark red vests, and grey trousers.
I have designated it as being a Virginia regiment.
Virginia had a quota of 15 regiments (battalions) of Continentals, and tied with Massachusetts forthe highest.
As usual, I have to have the reversed colors for the drummers!
The flag is by Adolfo Ramos. Whether this "Betsy Ross" version of the new national flag was actually carried by most of the Continentals, and when, is a matter of debate.
Another lovely unit, I like the figure pose, makes for a very determined looking unit.

DeleteAnother lovely unit Peter. I debated whether to use the Betsy Ross flag or not and got put off by my light reading on the controversy. I had now as it looks great and is iconic. Even if Betsy Ross didn't actually sew the first one, thinking about it now the same design could still have been produced elsewhere and seen action.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sometimes you just are better to go with expectations, even if the truth may be more nuanced. I have lots more variant flags to use with some future Colonial units.
