Sea Peoples in de Nile at Historicon

The game all set up and ready to go for 7 PM Thursday.

Counterclockwise, John, ? Tom, Florence,  ? Brian,  for the Sea Peoples, and Ken, ? , Michael,  Tim for the forces of the Pharoah.

The battle was fought on both sides of the Nile valley, with Libyan Allies (John) coming from the West and reinforcing the Sea Peoples right.

View form the Sea Peoples Right.

Libyan skirmishers try to polish off an Egyptian chariot which has reached the shores of the Mediterranean!

Egyptians advancing in the Center.

Action o the Sea Peoples' Left.

Peleset Javelinmen engage Egyptian and Nubian Bowmen!

The black "scarabs of death" mark hits (disorder).

The Sea Peoples have charged across much of the table on their right center!

The ranks are thinning on both sides.

Sea Peoples right center attacks; shortly afterwards the Sea Peoples ran out of Victory medals. Victory to Pharoah and Team Egypt!

Libyans

In preparation for my Historicon game in July, I have added a few more Libyans to my forces.

These are Foundry figures once again.

They will be allied to the enigmatic Sea Peoples in their invasion of Egypt.

In To the Strongest!, they most commonly fight as "Combined Light Infantry".

They evidently had chariots as well, but I've never seen any manufacturer that made them, so that arm will likely be supplied by some Canaanite allies.

Bronze swords and javelins were their characteristic armament, with a few bows thrown in.

They have been described as wearing a "towel and jockstrap", for obvious reasons!

In any event, I have depicted them with deep tans!

They are certainly colorful enough!

Historicon 2021: Ramses II, Episode 1: Foes East and West

Bright and early, at 9 AM on Thursday, I ran the first of my three Ramses II Trilogy games. We had a full slate of 8 players, with about half having played To the Strongest previously, and about half not having done so.

View from the West side of the Nile (running down the center of the table). Near are the Libyans, with a few Numidian allies, opposed by Egyptian Divisions Ptah (green) and Set (blue). On the East side of the Nile are Egyptian Divisions Amun (red) and Re (yellow), opposed by a mostly band of Canaanites, many of which were rated as "Raw".

Veteran TTS! gamer and freind Jeff Grein (red shirt) helped the game on the East side running smoothly, while I mostly assisted the players on the West side.

The Egyptians advanced boldly against the Canaanites.

Egyptian Chariots gaini9ng the upper hand to the South, but giving ground to the North.

Another view of the Canaanite - Egyptian combat.

Ramses and his chariotry threatens to sweep around the Libyan right.

A tremor evidently caused one of the villages to collapse!

The Libyans to the North (top of picture) pressed ahead vigorously, seeking to sack the Egyptian camp. The came close twice, but never succeeded.

Egyptian archers of Division re pepper the Canaanites with arrows.

Canaanite guardsmen are flanked!

Egyptian light chariots poised to take a Canaanite camp!

Charging an open flank, Ramses is in turn hit from the flank. Double hit cards...and the Pharaoh is hit; it is a serious wound, and he is whisked off the field, but will return to fight another day.

Canaanite chariots fail to take the camp from the defending Egyptian archers!
The Egyptians lining the Nile are all casualties.

In the end, the Canaanites prevailed to the East, whilst the Egyptians prevailed to the West of the Nile; we called it a draw, but with Ramses lucky to survive, barely!

Libyan LI Javelinmen # 4-6

Yep, just when you thought it was safe to look down again, those scantily clad Tehenu Libyans have returned once more!

Ready to throw in the "towel"?!

No if's or and's, but plenty of butts!

They do paint up quickly!  :-)

Time for, a cool change!

More Ancient gym rats!

Spear (or rather, Javelin) chuckers!

They have... clothes over there!  Sacrilege!

The first 2 units are Old Glory; these are Newline Designs.

More Micron pen (red) work on the cloaks.

"I fart in your general direction!"   :-)
