Hessian Grenadiers #2, American Revolutionary War

This is one of the combined Grenadier battalions of the Hessian troops sent to America.

For my convenience rather than any historical composition, 3 figures are from each of my four Hessian Fusilier regiments.

They have "borrowed" a white "Leibfahne" from one of their component regiments, very much contrary to regulations!
These are Perry figures, with the flag courtesy of Adolfo Ramos.

Note the orange cloth "bag" with white stripes on the three men for Fusilier Regiment Von Lossberg, in contrast to the black and brass of the Fusiliers - the only hessian regiment with different colors for the Fusilier and Grenadier miters of the same regiment.

  1. Hi,

Beautifully painted! Mixing three figures from each of the four regiments is a very practical approach, and the contrast across the miters looks brilliant en masse. They’ll look grand on the tabletop.

    Cheers, Andy

  2. These fellas look great! As the countdown to Historicon begins, how are your OBs shaping up with respect to what is left to paint?

    1. Thanks, Jon. Everything I needed was completed as of this past weekend, and a bit beyond... 7 more units to post, 2 of which are beyond those needed for Historicon. Just have to organize eveything for the WotR game this weekend, which shouldn't take long.

  3. Stepping out nicely Peter. The different companies from different regiments made for colourful units, back in them days.
    Best wishes, James

    1. Thanks, James. The mixed colors are particularly striking with the colors of the backing of the miters.

  6. A nice unit and practical way to organize them....I did exactly the same thing with my Napoleonic Austrians!

    1. Thanks, Keith. I went even further with my Austrian Grenadiers and just did each battalion in its own uniform (rather than 2 stands of this, two of that, etc.)!

  7. Another fine battalion Peter. I'll look forward to seeing the collection in action at Historicon.
