I need a boatload more Sassanid Persian troops for my Historicon game, so here is the first of many such units:
There was a guy who played in the band with me in college who looked a lot like the beaded fellow!
The strength of the Sassanid army lies in their heavily armored cavalry and Elephants; their infantry is mostly rubbish. The archers are probably the best of a sorry lot!
Old Glory 28mm figures. Lots more of them to come in the next 10 days! I am behind on posting so it looks like they should all be safely ready for the convention.
Seeing these pictures up close I realize that these troops are missing something - the flesh highlight on the faces; that was also true for the Palmyran Archers and two more units painted in the same batch. I have gone back and added that. Much better!
My goodness, Peter! You are in high-gear with units flying off your workbench.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, the need to have things "done" by a convention game drives my painting forward a lot!
DeleteAn approaching deadline is a terrific motivator!
DeleteJust tell me Peter, don't you sleep sometimes? Excellent job, once again!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phil; actually, my painting nosedived from mid April to mid June due to extreme time demands at work. with that easing off, I am making up for lost time! :-)
DeleteAmazing rate of output Peter. Is the game a week on Saturday? Do you have many units left to do (I note you say you are catching up on posts, so hopefully not)?
ReplyDeleteAs of right now, I have almost everything done (I leave for Historicon July 12th), just finishing up on 6 Cataphracts, some Generals, and maybe I'll add some Organ Guns to the queue!
DeleteAnother excellent unit from your endless conveyor belt
ReplyDeleteI have another 10 or so to post!
