This is the second unit of Spanish Militia completed, figures from the other set by Brigade games, sculpted by Paul Hicks.
Once again, the unit title refers more to their flag than yo any accurate uniform ascribed to them. They are wearing generic brown coats (dark blue were at least as common), with light blue facings.
There are 5 different figure variants, plus the command figures.
I went with some lighter, yellow brown trousers for these guys for variety.
Excellent sculpting and animation once again on these figures.
Once again I used the "dark" version of my magic wash to bring out the details.
The Aldofo Ramos flag complements the figures well.
I rather like the "marching at ease" pose! The hat bands are Delta CC "Coastline Blue", which is very light. I had originally painted the facings in that color, but it looked more white than blue, so I changed to a deeper hue.
Bueno!
ReplyDeleteGracias, Señor!
DeleteSpeedy Gonsalvo! You are really cranking these Spaniards out. The front rank looks like it is marching into either a strong headwind or a hail of lead. Maybe both?
ReplyDeleteYou, Jake and I seem to be in high productivity modes at the moment!I have three more Spanish Line on the painting table right now. As for the front rankers... I suspect they are being spurred onward by El Jefe!
DeleteAnother lovely unit! Looking forward to seeing some group pics too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark. I hope to have all or most of the infantry finished by January/February, and then start on Cavalry and Artillery.
DeleteVery nice... and properly scruffy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John! The "Magic Wash" helps scruff them up a bit!
DeleteSplendid volunteers, love this kind of unit...and your paint job!
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly, Phil! They were fun to paint.
DeleteLovely looking figures and really nice painting, the poses allow them to look more irregular which is apt.
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you, Iain; you don't get much more irregular than Spanish Militia!
DeleteVery nice, and I like the light blue you ended up using for the facings.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence. At least the Coastline Blue made a good undercoat for the second hue!
