Here's another battery for the Spanish cause...
The color of Spanish Artillery carriages came up for considerable discussion. It should probably be a shade or two lighter than I've done them, the most likely consensus being a "deep sky blue", that would fade to blue grey over time.
"Sky Blue" at this time referred to a darker shade than we tend to think of today. In any event, mine will be staying this deeper hue regardless.
Once again,. great animation on these Brigade Games figures!
Bird's eye view; the guns are also by Brigade Games, French 8 lbers.
Nice work on the Spanish artillery, Peter! Brigade Games make very good models. Hicks is a master sculptor.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jon, and I certainly agree re: the talents of Mr. Hicks.
DeleteGood looking battery.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe!
DeleteSplendid artillery Peter!
ReplyDeleteMerci, Phil!
DeleteEye catching these Iberians
ReplyDeleteThey are a rather colorful lot!
DeleteWonderful looking battery Peter and the sculpts are very good indeed. Great paint work.
ReplyDeleteYou're very kind, Carlo - thanks!
DeleteNice sculpts, lovely painting and I have no doubt that once they're done they're done!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Gracias, Iain! Yes, they are as they are, and will not be changing!
DeleteThey look great, Peter! I love your vivid colors.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them, Scott!
DeleteExcellent work. The vibrancy of the blue and the brass is quite striking.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jake Maybe a bit too vibrant in the case of the blue, but I can live with it!
DeleteGreat job and the shade looks fine to me. It was apparently cobalt-based so it all depends on how long after production they faded, with yours being fairly new off the production line.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence; maybe the first ones out of the shop to be proofed by Godoy, before the contractors started skimping on the expensive Cobalt pigment to turn a greater profit!
DeleteI like them, very nice Peter!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark!
