The Baden Artillery contingent needed some transport. of course, no one makes dedicated baden train figures!
Some Bavarian Train figures are close enough, though; just somewhat different uniform colors.
These are Lancashire Games Bavarian Train, painted as Badeners - dark blue coats, light blue facings, and red turnbacks. The Limbers and equipment is dark grey with black metal fittings, just like the Artillery carriages themselves.
They are great! It's always a joy to seen some less commonly encounters troops.

Thank you for the kind words, Stokes!
DeleteMy first thought when I saw the title was "I wonder where Peter got those". Lovely work and a very suitable stand-in!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you liked them, Lawrence!
DeleteGood looking limber and team! I don't recall seeing a limber with a seat having a back. Those Bavarians were quite civilized. That is neat!
ReplyDeleteI cannot vouch for the accuracy of the model; the Perry version has a seat without a back, but the flexibility and price of the Lancashire games model made it a far more economical choice!
DeleteFantastic job Peter! Might have to add this myself :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful artillery train, Peter. Love the uniform.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dean; I appreciate it!
DeleteLovely looking model and the base looks good too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peter; I like using the tufts along the long side of the back to give the appearance of a country roadway.
DeleteLooks great. I can't imagine how rough the ride must have been for the guys on the limbers. Considering the amount of dust and debris thrown up by the horses and the inevitable bumps and holes in the roads, the number of workplace injuries must have been astronomical...
ReplyDeleteYou know, I had the same thoughts when I was doing them - even with the back, this musty have been pretty uncomfortable; it's not like there is even a pretense of a suspension on a limber! Overall, walking sounds like a better deal!
DeleteVery nice work Peter - I have these castings as well and if tehy come out half as good as yours I will be truly pleased.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carlo; you are far to generous! :-)
DeleteA nice looking limber and team - reminds me that I have several limbers in the lead pile that are demanding attention!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have 4 British, 1 Bavarian, and 1 French awaiting paint, but I hate painting them! :-)
DeleteMost excellent
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them, Gary!
