Here is he first of three Elephants to be added to my expanded Indian army
Model is by Old Glory.
The extra, glued on bits (bells, "shawl") add considerably to the model.
I considered painting the "Saddkle Cloth" with intricate designs, and decided.... nah!
Looking good! Nothing wrong with having a plain saddle cloth.

ReplyDeleteNice work Peter. Sometimes an intricate saddlecloth can backfire if it strays off in the wrong direction, and I have painted over many in my time. I think the plain ones work better, especially where there is enough other detail in the model as there is here.

DeleteIf you can ride a horse without too much of that trouble, I'd imagine an Elephant is easier...
One does wonder how stable a platform nellies were for any crew once a head of steam built up.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was wondering that myself; my guess is the height advantage (and fear) are the big things with War Elephants.
