Wurttemberg I.R. #2

Back to some more terrific Piano Wargames figures, this time IR #2, with the Grenadier figures front and center in this shot!

Herzog Wilhelm von Wurttemberg was the inhaber for this unit in its various forms from 1805 - 1811.

The drum rims have diagonal stripes in red, black, and yellow. As with all of the Wurttemberg officers, the silver sash is interwoven with threads of black and red. I use my micron ink pens to do those.

The handsome flags are free downloads from Lucas' site.

Excellent sculpting, animation, and casting on these figures!

  4. Very nice Peter - but what is the central grenadier figure in the first image doing - it looks like he is picking his nose??! Maybe, he is an NCO, blowing a whistle......?

    1. From that angle, it does look about that way, but yes, he's actually an NCO shouting, "Hey Heinrick, get the lead out!"

  5. Nice! I like the idea of making the "whole armies" of the smaller states like Wurtemberg. Well done!

    Best wishes,

    1. At my scale, I now have pretty much the whole 1809 armies for Baden and Hessen-Darmstadt, and the Wurttembergers and Bavarians will be close to same!

  6. Very nice figures Peter, if I was starting in the hobby again, I think I would pick one of the Confederation of the Rhine armies to collect or a mixture of the smaller ones. I note that Piano has some other great Wurttemberg figures.

    Keep well

    1. Thanks, Chris. Doing one of the CoR states would be indeed a good way to start Napoleonics; Bavarians are often the first choice there as they saw the most fighting outside of the Penisnsula.. As for the other Piano wargames Wurttemberg figures, well... stay tuned! The Artillery will be next, followed by the Dragoons and Jagers zu Pferd, the Royal Guard, High Command, and then more line regiments!

  8. Lovely work, I've just finished paiting a bunch of WB's from Eagle, not as nice sculpts as these but also easier to paint I expect.
