While I await a few items to complete the player write ups from the 1813 campaign, let's return to newly painted units!
These rather colorful fellows are from the 2nd Austrian Hussar Regiment.
Their Inhaber was Erherzog (Archduke) Joseph-Anton, who was also Prince Palatine of Hungary (and the Inhaber of the 12th Hussars as well, under that title).
They were recruited in Transylvania (Siebenburg).
In 1809 the regiment fought at Sacile, The Piave, and Raab.
The combination of light blue dolman, pelisse, and trousers with bright red shakos is quite something; all of that is further set off by the black and yellow braid and plumes. !
These are Piano Wargames figures; the next Piano Wargames 1809 Kickstarter is due to launch any day now!
One of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteThis makes my 6th and presumably last Austrian Hussar regiment; I now have numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. The colored shakos are especially fun. I have 2 units now in scarlet, and one each in blue, green, grey, and black.
DeleteLuverly Peter. Worthy of an archduke!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks, glad you like them, James!
DeleteNothing quite like Hussars, they look splendid and the figures from Piano are once again very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Donnie!
DeleteVery colourful indeed. I'll have to remember this one when I get around to doing some Austrians.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence. You are spoiled for choice when it comes to Austrian Hussar regiments, and of course, they are the original Hussars!
DeleteSplendid looking Hussars, I've got some prepped and ready to go but I always need a little shove and once I start I'm fine!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain. Hussars CAN be a ,little intimidating to paint, but as you say, once you get on with it they're fine, and the results bare well worth it!
DeleteExcellent work, I thought you might be running out of Huzzar units! Soon to try my first Austrian unit.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe! I probably;;y do have "enough", LOL!
DeleteBeautiful work Peter, hussars are a love/hate figures for me. I love to see them on the tabletop but I hate painting them as they have such detail on their dolman and pelise which my old eyes struggle with.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting on the next Piano kickstarter myself with some anticipation.
The detail on these really made the lace easy to paint, and the wash will settle into the gaps. There is a reason (in addition to cost!) why my cavalry units only have 8 figures, though!
DeleteKickstarter is due to start "any day now"...
DeleteGot the kickstarter info today and sent a message to Lucas. The figures are certainly as impressive as his existing range.
DeleteNote that you can order figures from all of the existing ranges as well during the Kickstarter, at an 8% discount and include them in figures you get from he KS using the flat shipping; "such a deal".
DeleteGreat but Hussars really are a bunch of posers :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed, Gary!
DeleteLovely colourful unit of hussars there Peter!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them, Keith!
