Sir John Grey's Regiment of Foote

Time to put down the Napoleonics for a bit, and finish up my ECW Scots Covenanter army...

The decision for a temporary change of gears was made easier by the realization that I had all but run  out of the bases I use for my Napoleonic Infantry and Cavalry!

Never fear, though, I placed an order with Litko to take advantage of their 25% off pre-black Friday sale.

I  used Delta CC "Roman Stucco" for the coats of this regiment.

This flag design is recorded as being one used by the regiment. Like the rest of my Scots, the figures are by Old Glory.

  1. Looking Good! I have a pile of 28mm Pike&Shot somewhere in the Mountain of Shame, I might just be inspired to dig them out after seeing yours

    1. I do love Pike and Shot era units; ECW was my second period (after Napoleonics); like them, still painting new units 50 years later!

  2. Lovely work Peter and the tartans slung over their shoulders adds a lot of colour and variety.

    1. Painting the tartan on them isn't too bad, and adds a lot to the look!

    1. Thanks, Richard; I believe I have some Assyrians to get to... Kind of waiting to see if the Historicon 2025 theme influences the games I run this year!

  4. Great coat color, like the color of the bonnet as well. Grinned about the Litko sale, just sent out my order.

  6. Very handsome regiment! Love the coat color. ‘Roman Stucco’ is a new Ceramcoat color to me.

    1. Thank you, Jon! I've had that color for a few years now. As you know, Ceramcoat has taken to changing their colors and names MUCH more in recent years; it used to be that most of their colors remained stable for years!

  7. Excellent work Peter and it's always good to have a change! As it happens, my own ECW collection should be in action on Sunday as we celebrate gaming buddy Julian's birthday!

    1. Thank you, Iain! The color reminds me a bit of ACW "Butternut".
