Back from Historicon!

Had a great time as usual; ran 4 different games (one in near total darkness!), played in three, didn't buy too much and nothing unplanned. Left Lancaster fairly early this AM (8:15) and was home by 1 PM.

Unloaded everything from the car tonight; it usually takes me few weeks to sort it all out and put everything back in order and in place!

Plenty more Historicon posts to come over the next few weeks...

  1. That looks like a lot of loading and unloading to me Peter. Not surprising given the number of games you put on. A great effort and I am glad it was as enjoyable for you as the previous outings.

  2. A car! Judging from the amount, surely you mean that you unloaded the truck.
Glad you had a good time.

  3. A lot of effort indeed. Look forward to hearing about experience.

  4. I'm sure the figure count is the same each year, but it seems to me that there are fewer boxes. Really Usefull Boxes to the rescue! Can't wait for the photos of the games.

    1. The RUB's are more efficient than my shoeboxes of old. A significant investment has been made in them over the past 5 years or so! :-)

  5. Good to see your troops made it back to barracks okay. BTW, a couple of my buddies were there - they played in a few TFL games - What A Tanker, and Sharp Practice.

    1. TFL had a booth in the dealer's area, and I know there were a number of their games run at the convention as well.

  6. It went by too fast. Ran 2 Lion Rampant games and 1 Light Bobs, plus played in 4 Carnage & Glory, as well as Peter's Assyrians vs. Hittites, and 1 of Roy Jones' new Nama scenarios, the convention was a bit of a whirl wind for me. Driving back wasn't fun, especially the last 4 of 8 hours. Thought I'd get past without too much in buying, although found a dealer selling medieval figures for my interest in having some Islamic units to face some European units, and it was too tempting to resist.

    1. That was a busy con for sure, Mark! I was glad I drove back earlier than usual - missed the beach return traffic this year!
The Islamic figures sound interesting. Tell me more...

    2. Lion Rampant has some lists for armies like Berbers, Seljuks, and Spanish Muslims. The intention is to try these lists in tourneys, and I have an interest in battles fought in Spain, perhaps the Crusades, to create scenarios for convention games, too.

  7. Thanks for flying the flag for Test of Resolve at Historicon this year. It looks as if it was a fun game

    1. I certainly could have filled more games if I had had time to run them! :-)

  8. I like your figure containers Peter, I am always scared of figures getting damaged in transit but these look quite secure. A great collection BTW!

    1. The Really Useful boxes are great. I put shelf liner in the bottoms (I have magnetic basing for only a few of my troops, chiefly those with alloy pikes - just far too many troops to do it for all of them). I often put color coded felt sheets on top of the troops to further decrease shifting.
