This unit represents a return to the era of the English Civil War.
These are Old Glory Scots Highlanders.
The addition of the Scots to my ECW forces was prompted by the book of (fictitious) ECW scenarios for use with the For King and Parliament rules.
Tartan, tartan everywhere!
The scenario book, Marlowe to Maidenhythe, includes a number of scenarios with Scots in them; we have played all of them up that point. so I needed some Scots. Of course, I couldn't limit my self to just a few, so I am working my way through a whole army of them! These troops are now added to the three units of Covenanter foote already completed.
Very nice work on these "hielandmen" Peter and your work on the tartan plaids is excellent!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith. I used a slightly different take on the plaid this time, not limiting myself to white or yellow overstripes on dark colors, and I think it worked fine.
DeleteNo one can limit themselves to just a few although painting tartans decreases my enthusiasm.
ReplyDeleteBetween Napoleonic Highland regiments and these ECW Scotts, I have painted a fair amount of plaid recently. As long as it is broken up with other units, I don't find it too bad!
DeleteGreat work Peter, and the tartans look terrific.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence. They are a bit of a pain for sure, but I think the result is worth it!
DeleteA good looking unit, and nice to see one or two figures with ginger hair.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peter. I went with 5 different hair colors for these guys!
DeleteI always have some redheads in my Scots or Irish units!
DeleteAbsolutely! :-)
DeletePeter and tartans, true sign of the apocalypse! Nice tartans, no dodging that.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I've done units of Napoleonic Highlanders already, Joe, plus 3 units of Lowland foot early this year. I guess tartan is the new black! :-)
DeleteYour tartan turned our great and I really like the colours you chose.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was happy to expand the color variations more.
DeleteYou never do things by halves Peter!
ReplyDeleteMegalomania infest those of us who started with Napoleonics, I think! :-)
DeleteNice figures!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them, Ray!
DeleteReally nice but should be more gingers and less blondes :-)
ReplyDeleteBut Gary, Blondes have more fun! :-)
DeleteThere is a bit of Viking heritage amongst the clansmen, too...so a few blondes are fine!
DeleteI've know more than a few blonde Scots myself!
DeleteA fine body of tartan clad rogues
ReplyDeleteAye, thanks!
