Little brown Jugs

I painted up this set of ceramic jugs as additional table dressing for my Ancients games.

Manufactured in Resin by Stonehouse Miniatures, "Ceramic Jugs"

As you can see, I painted them in  three different basic "pottery" shades.

I used the ink pens for some simple geometric decorations.

A "magic wash" of dilute ink was them applied.

None jugs in the set, some with plugs, some without. Stonehouse also makes Amphorae.

Some other Egyptian items for a sense of scale and place!

  1. Nice find! Will these jugs be used as game markers or simply as decorations? Also, which ink pens do you use for the ceramic decorations?

    1. At present only as scneics, but they could be used as markers, especially for "heroes" attached to a unit. Hmmmm.
The pens are Micron ink pens, from a set of 6 (brwon, red, blue, green, purple, black) I bought at Michaels last year when they had one of their "40% off one item" sales, which is at least every 2 weeks if you get their email sales listing!

  2. Nicely done, and they fit in well against the sphinx and the palm trees - it really brings it all to life.

    1. thanks, Laurence. I was tempted by the amphorae as well, but they were designed to be stuck in the ground or s rack, so would be a little bit more complicated to use.
