Vilna Musketeer Regiment

With the upcoming Campaign in a Day in 3weeks covering the Spring 1807 campaign in Poland, it made sense to paint up some of the few Napoleonic Russians remaining in the Lead Pile.

This regiment was one of those raised after 1803 that was issued nonstandard flags, the patterns associated with the old "inspection" organizations no longer being relevant. This design is interesting, with the corner "rays" being half Royal Blue and half Purple.

The Vilna Musketeer Regiment was raised in March of 1807, just in time to join the fighting in Poland!

Also on the painting table are quite a few French command figures from the previous Piano Wargames Danube Campaign Kickstarters.

For Mother Russia!

A view of Russians that the French didn't see much of in 1807!

  2. That was unexpected given the stream of lovely AWI units over the past few months. Great work of these Peter.

    1. Thanks, Lawrence. The plan is to do some Napoleonic troops (mostly Piano Wargames) from lead on hand, and then resume the remaining AWI figures by December or January.

  3. Lovely Russians practising their marching ahead of the campaign. Like Lawrence I was expecting some more units for the American War of Indept. so got a pleasant surprise to see figs for the emperor of periods!
    Best wishes, James

    1. Thanks, James. Expect more Napoleonics between now and year's end, then a return to AWI thereafter.

    1. That's the idea; some new French Commanders from Piano Wargames should be completed for the event as well!

  7. A nice change of pace, with a change as good as a rest, Ed! Plus, makes sense, if you need a few more Russkies for your upcoming Campaign in a Day!

    1. After painting all those AWI figures, I was ready for a change of pace, and the Fall is the window of opportunity. Doing the small amount of Russians I had definitely made sense. In 2027, I'll return to the AWI and finish up what I have left.

    1. Thank Iain. It would have been hard for me to a go a year without painting at least *some* Napoleonics! :-)
