Situation shortly after Noon:
Battle at Braunsberg: Bernadotte, Lannes, Mortier, Uvarov, L'Estoq, Sacken
Battle at Heilsberg: Ney, Soult, Essen, Bagratian, Dohkturov
Battle at Rastenburg - Massena, Grouchy, Golitsyn, Tolstoy
Murat at Elbing, Davout enroute from Morag to Elbing, Lefebvre at Bischofsburg, Poniatowski at Augustow
Gortchakov at Bartenstein, Lobanov at Maryampole

Gortchakov returns to Bartenstein from Bischofsburg after scouting the area.

General Lobanov's reserve Corps moving on Table G (Angerburg - Gumbinem).

Heavy fighting continues at Heilsberg

A few Russians at Friedland, headed off to join the fighting at Heilsberg?

French and Bavarians at Bischofsburg -there was a reason Gortchakov pulled back!

Speaking of Bartenstein, all of Gortchakov men have now returned there.

Bernadotte faces growing numbers of Allies at Braunsberg.

Marshal Lannes at  Elbing, hopefully moving up to assist Bernadotte.

Just a token Russian garrison on the Eylau table.

Eagles eye view of the Battle of Heilsberg, circa 12:30 PM.

Marshal Soult has more men across the River Alle.

Prince Bagration's (Kevin Carroll) powerful Advance Guard Division is ready to make its advance from the East

Many French and Russians face off across the river at Rastenburg. Where's that ponton train when you need it?

Only (empty Russian) transport boxes reman at Tayiau.

Gortchakov debating his options at Bartenstein.

There's some action by both sides on the Transit tables.

Napoleon writes dispatches to his Marshals at Marienburg.

Marshal Ney n danger of envelopment at Heilsberg.

The Prussian garrison enjoys some Bockwurst at Konigsberg.

Marshal Lefebvre and his Bavarians are back at Allenstein.

The Allies are closing in on Braunsberg.

Only a sand timer at Russian controlled Insterburg.

It is 12:40 Pm, and the Corps of Poniatowski and Lobanov, both maneuvering on the Transit tables while trying to maneuver in the Southeast portion of the map, run into one another on Table Q (Suwalkwn).

Being fairly evenly matched, they decide to initiate a battle.  Assistant GM Mark quickly sets up the first "floating table".

Only a minimal  French garrison now remains at Allenstein. Where did Lefebvre get off to?

French and Russians narrow their gap at Rastenburg.

All quiet at Russian controlled Friedland.

Just as the noose threatens to tighten on Bernadotte at Braunsberg, Marshal Mortier's Hessian Corps makes its presence felt.

Marshal Lannes at... Insterburg ???

Nope, the Marshal's troops are "just resting" there whilst their fellows arrive at Morag, and find Davout and Lefbvre there as well.

Still quiet aside from a small garrison near Eylau, where here are many bleached bones of horses and men in the fields from the awful battle that was fought there this past winter.

Tolstoy and Golitsyn on one side of the Alle, with Massena and Grouchy on the other!

Still quiet at Tayiau.

General Bennigsen paying a visit to the Russian Brigade garrisoning the Eylau table. Contrary to Napoleonic propaganda, the General considers Eylau to have been a Russian victory!

Gotchakov's positions at Bartenstein; note the former French garrison still hiding deep in the woods!

Russian C-in-C General Bennigsen on Table G, heading from Gumbinem towards Angerburg, with only his staff as an escort!

Napoleon remains comfortably housed at Marienburg.
i
A short break in the action at Heilsberg.

General Lobinov arrives on table Q to confront Pniatowski; the Battle of Suwalken commences!

Poniatowski advances on Suwalken.

The distance between the two forces narrows. Poniatowski hoes to make use of his superior Polish Uhlans (Lancers).

Davout and Lefebvre converse again at Morag.

Truth or Dare at Rastenburg.

Gortchakov waits at Bartensetein, as per his orders.

The gap between the opposing forces narrows at Suwalken... and the French Pontooniers are spotted!

Davout and Lefebvre decide to go their own ways from Morag and Bischodfsberg, respectively;  Davout West, presumably towards Elbing and Braunsberg, , and Lefebvre Northeast, towards Bartenstein.

Marshal Soult makes further progress advancing over the River Alle upon Heilsberg, whilst trying to keep an escape avenue out for the dwindling Corps of Marshal Ney. The "Bravest of the Brave" seems determined to fight and die where he stands, however!

French reinforcements arrive from the Southwest at Braunsberg - Marshals Lannes and Murat!

All quiet at Niederburg...

and Friedland.

Marshal Soult scores a major breakthrough at Heilsber, and is posed to take the town. Marshal Ney, however, sees the jaws of the Russian trap close ever tighter!

Essen and Uvarov have been battering Bernadotte and Mortier; they have Sacken moving up with reinforcements, whilst Lannes and Murat begin to deploy for battle as well.

All quiet at Insterburg.

Gortchakov's scouts from Bartenstein find Lefebvre and his Bavarians in control of Bischofsburg.

Lobanov (Bob Rossi) and Poniatowski (Doug Ozelius) pose for the Battle painters during the battle of Suwalken.

Bennigsen at Eylau again.

Tolstoy Grouchy and Massena continue to stare at one another across the river, but it seems that Prince Golitsyn may have moved off somewhere.

Still quiet at Russian controlled Tayiau.

Gortchakv's scouts return to rejoin his main body at Bartensten

Quiet at Angerburg and Gumbinem.

Davout's Corps arrives at Elbing, while some of Murat's men are still waiting to get to Braunsberg.
Do you have any new orders for me, your Imperial Majesty?

Essen tries to hold onto Heilsberg against Soult's assault, while Dohkturov and Bagratian close on Ney.

Lefebvre at Bischofsburg, Davout returnng to Morag from Elbing.

Stalemate at Rastenburg.

Gortchakov adopts defensive positions around Bartenstein.

Movement on the Transit tables!

Situation at Elbing/Marienburg.

Fierce fighting continues at Heilsberg

Konigsberg is unmolested.

Polish Uhlans charge a formed Russian square... but the defenders are Opolochenie (Russian Miltia).

Over view as the forces close.

No French left at Niederburg,

and no Russians at Friedland.

Murat and Lannes are finding it slow to get into the action at Braunsberg.

Bavarian cavalry scouting Bartenstein from Bischofsburg.

Hessian garrison Elbing, while Davout countermarches back towards Morag.

Aftermath of the successful charge by the Polish Uhlans.

Another charge by the intrepid Poles; this time, the infantry gets in on the action as well!

At Heilsberg, Ney's position grows ever more critical!

Tea time at Rastenburg.

Bavarians wait at Bischofsburg.

Seven's a crowd at Braunsberg.

Are the Russians going to try something at Rastenburg?

The French Imperial Guard arrives at Marienburg (circa 2:30 PM, after the Pizza!). Davout is gone, but some Hessians (the former garrison of Marienburg) are seen moving from Elbing towards Braunsberg)!
In his memoirs, Baron Zwanzig Rückblick observed that the Emperor might perhaps have been bettet served by leaving the Hessians in garrison and leading his Guards to the decisive point... wthout saying where that was!

Heilsberg yet remains in Russian hands.

Lobanov's position at Suwalken is deteriorating.

View of Heilsberg from Bagratian's vantage point.

Lannes and Murat finally start their moves at Braunsberg.

Davout returns from Elbing, and marches through Morag on his way to Bischofsburg, where Lefebvre is himself set to move on Bartenstein.

Tolstoy holds Goldap and the river line, while Prince Golitsyn's cavalry Corps mounts up!

The French control Suwalken.

The long, blue line at Bischofsberg.

Situation at Rastenberg/Goldap.

and at Bartenstein.

Lannes and Murat's positions at Braunsberg, as they seek to relieve Bernadotte and Mortier.
