Although the figures were all finished in the frst half of the last quarter, the Hessians never got a proper Army review.
The army of Hessen-Darmstatd certainly epitomizes the "Pocket Army" ideal.
All in all, it's a very satisfying, nicely balanced force.
Three infantry units ("brigades"), made up of a total of 9 battalions if you used that scale) , one battery, and one cavalry unit.
All figures once again by Lucas Luber and Piano Wargames.

DeleteThe Hessen-Darmstadt army is a very fine one upon which to model a small 'Imaginations' army. The only thing missing is heavy cavalry, but that makes it similar to - an army corps in just about any other army.
ReplyDeleteThe pretty army pictured here is just about the ideal, compact force, especially if you have a limited budget. Complete in itself.

DeleteThese are tremendously well done Peter. The casts are excellent and I really think these may be some of your very best painting. I have a soft spot for the “minor powers” or as the old War and Peace board game used to call them “ satellite kingdoms”. These are wonderful and I’m sure they’ll fight just as well.

I have yet to do Berg, Naples, or the kingdom of Holland, and I want to do the Frankfurt regiment of the Rheinbund at some point. Hey, I see Lerry just came out with Ottoman tools for the era... 🦋 😁
