A few more Brigade Games French Napoleonic "characters" from Brigade Games...
Two capitaines de vaisseau (why should the British have all the fun with their Navy?)
and a captain acting as an aide de camp to a General de Division (red brassard on the left arm).
Speaking of matters nautical, I pulled out my 15 mm Galleys for a solo playtest game.
I will be using Galleys and Galleons by Ganesha Games.
I made the sea mat last year using some turquoise felt, and a can each of medium blue, light blue, and white spray paint.
In other news, Brent just announced availability of Field of Battle, 3rd edition, a review of which will be forthcoming, Jared and ? ten of his students are playing a game of Square bashing by Zoom or similar tomorrow, and I will be joining a Scotland/US video play test game tomorrow with Tim Couper and David Knight. I have been paiting like crazy, and have multiple new units completed which I have yet to post here!
The brigade figures really are full of character. Great stuff Peter, and the galleys arranged en masse look terrific.

ReplyDeleteI am, too. Since I am only using Galleys (and perhaps my Galleass at times), I could devise a decent QRS. Ramming and oar shearing are definitely part of the combat options!

ReplyDeleteThe Brigade Games figures are a bit pricey, but very good and exceptionally cleanly cast. It is worth waiting for their periodic sales. usually not huge discounts, but it helps. Shipping in the US is cheap.

Thanks, Iain. The bulk of the ships were scrtach built by Bill Abrams many years ago. I acquired the lot of them (8) for something like $30 about 16 years ago, and then dressed them up a bit with paint, designs, etc. The additional ships are by Old Glory. Seeing their Galleass at a Historicon over 20 years ago is what triggered everything off.

Since I have the blue mat on the table, i will probably try out some Napoleonic Naval rules that have been in my queue for a long time. After that, I have in mind to do Caldiero 1805 with FoB 3 and perhaps some others as well.

ReplyDeleteI use Guns, Galiey’s, and Glory by Skull and Crown. Turks at Malta type stuff. One day I’ll finish that project and actually play. So hats off too for doing it.
