Macedonian Phalanx Kitinos

Another Macedonian phalanx pushes its way off the painting table!

This one I have named Κίτρινος (Kítrinos)

As with the other units, it is merely Greek for "yellow"

It is yet another raised from the large lot of  bare Macedonian lead I purchased from a local gamer about 5 years ago.

It has taken a while, but this project is finally moving forward!

Delta CC "Straw" was used for the yellow parts.  I believe these are A&A figures. Very nice sculpts regardless!

  1. Very nice phalanx. I think they are A&A. The musician is I'm pretty sure.

    1. Tanks, Dean. Not really a range I was familiar with, but some of the things I acquired with the collection suggests they are A&A.

  3. Nice phalanx, Peter! A block of 24 figures is a good, solid looking size. CC Straw is an important bottle to have in the arsenal and used much more than one would think. It is a well-used color in my painting palette.

    1. yes, Im like 24 figures (in 25 mm) for them, although I use 36 for a renaissance pike block. Gives the feeling of mass and depth without breaking the bank!

We both have affection (or id that affliction?) for CC straw. I believe the tunics on this one are CC poppy orange, a very red hue of orange, toned down by the Magic Wash.

  4. Ranks certainly look impenetrable.

  5. Great work and they are lovely figures. The yellow is very striking, but not over the top. I don't think we have CC in Australia, but that looks like a very nice shade of yellow.

    1. Thanks, Lawrence. Delta Ceramcoat craft paints are widely distributed in the US. I much prefer them to Michael's brand which is too thin on pigment.

Here's a site in AU that carries them, although prices look about twice those in the US: https://thescrapbookstore.com.au/ceramcoat-acrylic-paints.html?p=2

    2. Thanks Peter, I'll have a look at that today. I have yet to find a yellow I am happy with and avoid using it where possible, so this will be worth a trial.

    1. Thanks, Kevin; it's always nice when somebody notices those little linguistic jokes, even if they are sort of "Dad joke" category; of all of the phalanx units, this is the only one with some of the pikes leveled.
