Baden Artillery Train, 1809

The Baden Artillery contingent needed some transport. of course, no one makes dedicated baden train figures!

Some Bavarian Train figures are close enough, though;  just somewhat different uniform colors.

These are Lancashire Games Bavarian Train, painted as Badeners - dark blue coats, light blue facings, and red turnbacks. The Limbers and equipment is dark grey with black metal fittings, just like the Artillery carriages themselves.

  2. My first thought when I saw the title was "I wonder where Peter got those". Lovely work and a very suitable stand-in!

  3. Good looking limber and team! I don't recall seeing a limber with a seat having a back. Those Bavarians were quite civilized. That is neat!

    1. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the model; the Perry version has a seat without a back, but the flexibility and price of the Lancashire games model made it a far more economical choice!

    1. Thanks, Peter; I like using the tufts along the long side of the back to give the appearance of a country roadway.

  7. Looks great. I can't imagine how rough the ride must have been for the guys on the limbers. Considering the amount of dust and debris thrown up by the horses and the inevitable bumps and holes in the roads, the number of workplace injuries must have been astronomical...

    1. You know, I had the same thoughts when I was doing them - even with the back, this musty have been pretty uncomfortable; it's not like there is even a pretense of a suspension on a limber! Overall, walking sounds like a better deal!
