These men belong to the retinue of Sir Henry Holland of Darlington, 3rd Duke of Exeter .
They wear his livery, Argent and Gules.
The Duke was a steadfast supporter of the Lancastrian cause.
He and his men fought at a number of the battles of the Wars of the Roses.
These included Blore Heath, Northampton, Wakefield
Second St Albans, Towton, and Barnet.
You have an impressive array of WotR units coming out of your production line. I am curious on your liveries. Some are red/white while some are white/red. Why the mix?
ReplyDeleteSimply personal presence, Jon.
DeleteAnother useful addition to the WotR collection there Peter.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith!
DeleteAnother lovely unit, liking the bloke with helmet off
ReplyDeleteThank you, Garry. The Old Glory figures have a lot of variety!
DeleteNice looking painting. You did need to do a unit or two that does not switch sides.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe; who know what may have happened had things gone on even longer?
DeleteAnother great looking WOTR unit, lovely!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks for the kind words, Iain; much appreciated.
DeleteGreat stuff Peter, and again I like the mix of colours you have used on the quilted jackets to provide some variety.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lawrence. I tried for a mix of colors on the various non livery items.
DeleteA good looking unit, and like other comments I like the mix of colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peter. Still quite a few more to come in the 8 or so weeks until Historicon!
DeletePeter it’s all your fault. I spent an hour or so looking at my massive pile of unpainted Foundry War of the Roses figures and planning some movement on the painting front. Your units have been very inspirational.
ReplyDeleteHappy to take the blame, Carlo. At least they are already in the lead pile, so no extra costs incurred!
