Set up for the Battle of Bisham Abbey

On the wargames table is the 5th  "For King and Parliament"  scenario from the fictional ECW Scenario book , "Bisham Abbey."

This battle sees the first of the Scots troops (left foreground).

I started painting my Scots about a year ago, with this and several forthcoming scenarios in mind.

We were scheduled to play this game this past Thursday, but one by one something came up with the rest of the guys, so it will have to stay decorating my table until we can reschedule for another date. Meanwhile, I have a moor full of Scots units on the painting table, some of which will be needed for the future scenarios in the Marlowe to Maidenhythe scenario book.

  1. It looks like a great setup Peter, just a shame life got in the way. Hopefully it will see some action before too long.

    1. Thanks, Peter. ECW tabletops tend to be rather scenic!

  3. Looks good! At least you have a table ready for the game, so you will be able to jump into the game as soon as your friends will show up.

    Best wishes,

  4. Shame about the scheduling, table certainly looks great. Lots o' Scots there Peter! Maybe a earlier chapter of the campaign someday?

    1. Eh, life happens to us all, right?! ECW would make for a good campaign, maybe more Theater of War driven?

  5. The only thing more satisfying than a table set up for battle is a mass of newly painted troops waiting for the flock to dry - and even that can be debatable! Looks splendid. If the game plays half as well as it looks, it will be a great contest. Cheers, Aaron

  7. Very handsome battle layout! I would have no problem looking at this wonderful layout until the game is played imagining what may lay ahead.

  9. That's a magnificent looking layout Peter and good to see some Scots on the table, but are they true blue Covenanters or Montrose and his rabble of Royalists? 😊 Look forward to seeing the AAR very soon hopefully.

    1. Well according to the (fictional) scenario, they are somewhat wayward Scots supporting the cause of Parliament. Many more Scots on the way next month!

  10. Game has been successfully rescheduled for Thursday morning 2/8; so far it looks like all four of us can make it, which should make the game crack along nicely! :-)
