The Winter 1807 Campaign is just 15 days away now, and we need some markers for supply Depots. Each side will have a small number of these, which will serve as the terminus of their line of communications/supply route.
I made these from of set of Renedra plastic sacks acquired at Historicon last year, some square MDF bases from Litko, white glue and some flock. We decided that it needed to be obvious to the players what they were if they encountered one on the table, hence the subtle labeling!
Over exposed and color balance off due to bright AM sunshine today, but still a useful close up of the simple construction.
Various markers can be placed in the depot space for extra visual appeal. I think the wolf marker denotes a looted Depot, though!
Very nice. I like play aids that fit in with the scenery, instead of just tokens that can look out of place (although I am sometimes guilty of that myself).
ReplyDeleteThanks! We try with our "chikens", "Rocks", "smoke" and other markers!
DeleteNicely done!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phil!
DeleteVery serviceable! Like DS above, I appreciate efforts to make play aids as inconspicuous as practical. I don't do this nearly enough.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John. I was fortunate to have the time and materials to whip them up!
DeleteVery effective from both a functional and aesthetic perspective.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence!
DeleteBeautiful markers - what make are the cannonballs if you don't mind my asking?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steve. Unfortunately I don't recall the manufacturer for the stacks of cannon balls. They date back well over 10 years, and may have come with some renaissance artillery crew set... or not. I don't think they were sold as a separate item, or I would have bought a lot ore of them to use as markers for Artillery that needed to reload/re-supply, etc. Something to perhaps suggest to Renedra, as they are useable from about 1400 to 1900?!
DeleteNo worries sir. I use the tiniest black beads from a jewelry set (with the holes in the middle) glued onto flocked pennies and they look just about perfect for 10mm/15mm, although I usually use them for "stationary" markers for Volley & Bayonet.
DeleteClever idea, Steven!
