Infanterie Regiment #11 was recruited in Bohemia.
It had rose pink facings with pewter buttons (changed to dark blue facings with brass buttons in 1810).
The Inhaber was Michael-Johann, Graf Wallis von Karighmain from 1792-1799, "vacant" 1799 to 1801, and Rainer-Josef-Johann, Erzherzog von Osterreich, from 1801 -1853.
Erzherzog Rainier was a younger brother of Kaiser Franz-Josef; the Hapsburgs were nothing if not prolific!
In 1809, the Regiment formed part of Bellegarde's I Corps.
Very snappy!
ReplyDeleteNot to mention anti-Nappy!
DeleteAnother add to the white wave. Good 'un.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe. I must admit, I especially enjoy painting Austrian Line. That's good because I am just making a dent in the "300 Austrians"!
DeleteLooking great.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them!
DeleteA superb addition!
ReplyDeleteMerci, Phil!
DeleteAs usual superb
ReplyDeleteYou're too kind, Gary!
DeleteThere is something so alluring about the Austrian line regiments facings in this period. Bright Greens, dull browns, shades of grey, red, carmine and crimson. That pink looks sensational against the white.
ReplyDeleteThe many and varied facing colors of the Austrian of this era are abig part of the attraction.
DeleteSuper unit, as always - very nice. I was intrigued by the name Michael-Johann, Graf Wallis von Karighmain - it seems that, before they were in Austria, the family name was Wallace, and they came from what is now called Carrickmines, outside Dublin. Another in the big catalogue of regiments raised by Irish emigrants.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tony. Very interesting background about the earlier Inhaber of the Regiment!
DeleteAnother lovely unit:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steve!
DeleteThese looks great, and I am a fan of any unit with pink facings.
ReplyDeleteI'd agree, quite classy. :-)
DeleteAnother fine unit of Austrians, Peter. A lovely facing color giving a nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteThanks, dean. Almost any facing color looks good on a white uniform!
DeleteA very dapper looking regiment
ReplyDeleteThank you, Neil!
DeleteAnother lovely looking Austrian unit! I have at least primed a couple of Austrian units, but it'll be a while before they hit the painting desk!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
I really enjoy painting Austrians myself. The uniform is much less intricate then the French one, and the variety of facing colors help avoid snow blindness! :-)
DeleteExcellent facing colour for Austrians (and anyone!). Nice work Peter :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark! Pink looks good on white, dark green, dark or medium blue, and even brown (some Grenz units).
