WGD 1971: "The Doublecross"

This is the last of what I felt were the still interesting articles from the one issue revival of Jack's Wargames Digest. Interestingly, there is current thread on The Miniatures Page about when the respondents first played in a wargames campaign. In my case that was 1970, with quite a few more after that. Not surprisingly, Jack and the Old Guard had me beat by over a decade!

All this reminds me that I have to prod my own country in the current slow motion, Covid inhibited campaign, Orbajosa, at least a little bit out of its torpor!

  2. Very interesting, Peter. Particularly as I only started wargaming much later - with rules all prettied up with color images, etc. :)

    1. WE did several play by mail campaigns as well as local FTF affairs; usually managed about a move a quarter, and email didn't change that much!

  3. Another nice trip down memory lane. I still marvel at the patience people had when typing up rules and newsletters like this, and how much easier it is now with word processors.

    1. Oh, for sure, I remember typing up so many sets of house rules! The advent of word processing, which I started using circa 1984, was a huge boon!
